I don't know about y'all but I despise the cold weather and lately it's been extremely frigid. The winter season is my least favorite month for the simple fact that snow and ice could possibly be in the forecast. I actually just came back from Miami and it was even chilly there. People were walking around with coats on and everything. It was definitely a sight to see!
January has to be one of the coldest months of the year in my opinion. With temperatures getting lower and lower, it's imperative that your wardrobe is cold weather ready. Here are a few winter must-haves that I know will come in handy for the next couple of months.
Boots
Boot season has manifested into a year around trend. There are a style of boot that can go with any outfit you can think of. But for the winter, I like to stick with a certain styles that I know will keep my feet warm and comfy.
Over-sized sweaters
Sweaters are an easy go-to for the winter. The key to is to layer your sweaters underneath a dress/jumper, over a button up shirt or even underneath a jacket, of course. But, if you're one to easily get hot, then I suggest rocking your sweater on its own.
Scarfs
Scarfs are my favorite winter accessory, especially when they're long enough to wrap around my face and head. Since I keep my hair somewhat short and naturally curly, it's hard to wear hats without looking bald. So, scarfs are something that I take pretty seriously.
Layering tops
This is my go-to basic that I love to layer underneath sleeveless sweaters, slip dresses and hoodies. There is no such thing as wearing too many layers int the winter time. My favorite thing to do is layer a turtle neck underneath my dress. It's an easy way to transition some of my spring, summer and fall pieces into the colder months.
Fur jackets
Sometimes, I like to switch out my puffer coat for a soft, faux fur! Furs keep me warm and of course, very chic. But they don't always have to be worn with formal outfits. I like to pair my fur with tee shirts, sneakers and jeans for a fun street style look. I even like to throw on a pair of boots if I'm feeling sassy.
Cozy flannels
This happens to be my all time favorite winter item. Flannels have been in style for forever and it doesn't look like they're going anywhere. They're soft and comfy and can also be layered for extra warmth.
