The feeling is inevitable. You know when your life is being moved in a different direction when your mindset and actions begin to change. You're excited for something new and ready to feel uncomfortable, but in a good way.

Since the new year has started, I've been obsessed with improving myself. I've set some goals that I plan to stick with and I'm not letting anything get in the way of accomplishing them, like I usually do. Most of the time, I fill my head with excuses as to why I haven't done something. But I'm currently reading "Don't Settle for Safe" by Sarah Jakes-Roberts and it's got me thinking (I plan to read a book each month by the way). We can't keep allowing our insecurities and past experiences hold us back from living the life that we ultimately want to live. Life is too short to play it safe. We have to take risks and feel uncomfortable to actually learn and grow.

So, I decided to put together a little list of things traits that I am experiencing that is letting me know that things are happening the way they're supposed to be. Keep reading to determine whether or not you're on the right path to success.

1. It's easier for you to make good decisions

Decision making is one of the hardest things that life throws at you. So, when you're able to come to a consensus about something that has been making it hard for you to sleep at night, then you know something is right. It's good to be uncomfortable and doing things that you aren't quite sure will work out. And in order to grow, you have to know when to take those risks.

Just recently, I made the decision to leave one of my many part-time jobs as a receptionist. I had been working there since July of 2017 while transitioning out of my previous assistant job at the time. It wasn't what I expected but it was a check. Just something to help me pay some bills and keep a little money in my pocket (which now that I think about it, it didn't really help much at all). But upon leaving the assistant job, I applied for a seasonal position at Under Armour and got it! I knew it was a great opportunity and there was potential for growth. But instead of me leaving the receptionist job and focusing my time on the new position at UA, I worked my schedule around the part-time. I was focused on making as much money as I could (I was getting paid every week y'all) but in reality, I was working harder for a smaller reward. My weekly checks weren't that much and I soon realized that my idea of having multiple jobs and "making a lot of money" wasn't the best idea. I had to do something about it.

Fast forward to today, and I am so happy I made the decision to leave. Even though I'll be back to my bi-weekly paychecks in a couple of weeks, I now have more time to make more money and work on my business. I'm one who is famous for second guessing myself, but I didn't hesitate with this one. I knew something had to change.

2. You actually want to get out of bed in the morning

If you're eager to get out of bed every morning to start your day, then you've more than likely found your calling or are close to it. You're anxious to accomplish everything on your "to-do" list and don't have much time to waste in bed.

I'm always tired when I wake up so that's something that probably won't change, but I do feel a lot happier to get my day started. I enjoy doing what I do. So, when I have the opportunity to do what I love and get paid while doing it; it's a great feeling.

No, I am not a full-time entrepreneur just yet but I know that I am close to it. Being able to work towards my dreams everyday and figure out ways to make my journey that much more fulfilling is very enjoyable to me. Everyday, I have a laundry list of tasks to complete and it makes me feel good to cross things off my list. I don't always have the time to complete everything though. But whatever I don't complete, will definitely get done the next day.

3. You're making things happen rather than waiting for them

You've reached a point in your life where you want to have full control. You're tired of looking at other people's lives and wishing you were living your dreams. You're now starting to realize that nothing will happen unless you make it happen.

I'm making money moves all 2018! If what I'm doing isn't benefiting me or my brand in anyway than I am not doing it. I have so many goals to accomplish before the year is out so I really don't have much time to waste on things that don't matter. I was once caught up on trying to help everybody but everybody doesn't need my help or want my help. I was able to narrow down my target market and focus on the people that I want to help in my business.

SophisticatedChic's clients are sophisticated entrepreneurs and small business owners who are having trouble determining their signature style and brand image. As an entrepreneur, I understand that there is always work to be done. So, if you're not into fashion as much as I am then you probably need some help. With that being said, take the next step and invest in a personal stylist. I enjoy educating my clients and what styles and brands work best for their specific body type and lifestyle so that you feel more confident in your wardrobe decisions.

4. Great things are happening to you

We all want good things to happen to us but we have to learn how to keep a positive mindset. And when you do, things begin to fall into place. You end up always being at the right place at the right time. Connecting with the right people and attending the right events.

I tend to hope and pray for certain things to happen to me that I think are good but they are not necessarily in my best interest. And ironically, more negative things end up happening due to me taking the path that I thought was right for me. I can be stubborn at times and want to take the easy way out. But allowing life to take it's course is the best way to live your life. The only thing you're in control of is yourself.

5. Much of the fear that you're currently experiencing is paired with excitement and exhilaration

Like it said, being uncomfortable is all a part of growth. You have to take risks and do things that are out of the ordinary in order to learn from your mistakes and grow. You can't become a better person if you don't know what you are capable of.

2018 is going to be a great year. I can feel it. I plan to say "yes" to things that I normally wouldn't even think of doing. I want to do everything that I've been saying I want to do but haven't got around to doing because of fear. I refuse to keep creating excuses for myself as to why I haven't done something. It's time to just do it, as Nike would say.
