Jump and the Net will Appear: The 2018 EntrepreneuHER's Brunch Recap

I made a promise to myself that I'd take more risks this year and this was definitely one of them!

Since the beginning of January, I've been inquiring about media coverage opportunities for many of the events that I've been wanting to attend and surprisingly, have been having much success. I figured since I already do it for myself, why not do it for others? I'd attend as a blogger and also get the perks of speaking/interviewing with the important people in the room. Sign me up!

So just like clock work, the EntrepreneuHER's Brunch was coming up again but this time in a new city. Atlanta! I attended last year and really enjoyed meeting and listening to all the female entrepreneurs and successful panelists. There even was a key note speaker, Raevyn Jones, who gave us a snippet of the "Pink Slip Retreat" and how she assists individuals who are passionate and highly motivated to leave their full-time job and follow their entrepreneurial dreams. You know I was hooked. I had to stay plugged in. So, when I saw when and where this years brunch was taking place, I decided to reach out. I had no idea I'd be chosen but as soon as I got word, I immediately began planning my trip.

It was a couple of weeks before the brunch and I had no idea how I would get to Atlanta or where I'd be staying but I was determined to go. And on top of that, my partner Tonae confirmed that she couldn't come with me so I had no choice but to go alone. I had already made a commitment and didn't want to let myself or anyone else down. I began to second guess myself.

"Should I still go?"

"I honestly can't afford to go by myself."

"Is it really worth going?"

The brunch was March 17th and on March 6th, I received a check in the mail from my freelance gig. I knew that was a sign from God that it was meant for me to go. I immediately purchased my plane ticket and arranged to stay with my friends who just so happened to move to Atlanta and didn't live too far from the city. I couldn't believe I was making it happen. I packed my bags and was on my way.

I was told to arrive to the brunch a little earlier to conduct a few interviews and take pictures but I ended up being a tab bit late due to the weather and the St. Patrick's Day Parade that was going on right outside. Thankfully, the brunch didn't officially start for another hour so I used that time to network and record some footage. The space was set up with a number of round tables with a swag bag at each seat. There were even bottles of sparkling water at each table for guests to try. The vendors were lined up along the back of the wall leading right into the food and drink tables.

Vendors:

I loved how intimate this year's brunch was. There were only a set number of seats and the space was smaller, which helped to allow us to feel more comfortable speaking with each other and making connections. We also played a game that gave us a chance to collect business cards and connect with as many people as we could.

Panelists:

The host, Anisa Brenee was hilarious and kept us all engaged. She asked the panelists some really good questions that had everyone thinking about how they might answer.

Anisa: "What is the most important piece of self branding for you all that you look at when you're about to bring somebody on? Are we still looking at resumes? Or are business cards still essentials? What are you looking for now?"

Lindsey: "You first have to be clear on the value that your bring to the table. And then once you're clear on the value that you bring to the table, go look on your social media."

If you weren't there, you missed out on yet again, another successful brunch by the ultimate boss bae, Milan Mobley. But don't trip. The EntrepreneuHer's Brunch is coming to Brooklyn on Saturday, April 7th. If you haven't gotten your tickets yet, you can purchase them below!
