I was going back and forth about what to write about this week. I've been trying really hard to give you guys some great content that all of you can benefit from but it's not as easy as it sounds. Sometimes, I have writer's block and I can't think of anything to talk about it. When this happens, I usually stalk other blogger's sites and see what they're talking about. Then, I use one of their topics and put my little spin on it. You know, spice it up a little bit so it doesn't look like I'm copying. And then, I came up with this.

Since I never really make any videos (which I plan to do more of this year) and am always behind the scenes, I thought I'd give you guys a little taste of me.

There are so many weird things that you guys don't know about me that I think would be interesting for you to know. I'm not always as serious as I look and my life isn't always as put together as my outfits. Shit gets hard but I'm learning not to let the obstacles that I run into, deter my energy and motivation. Which leads me into my list of random facts.

1. I got my septum pierced during my sophomore year of college

I remember me and my friends riding the bus to the tattoo shop back in college for one of my friends birthday's (we didn't have cars on campus back then). She was getting a tattoo done and needed some moral support, so we went as a group. The employee at the shop figured we were all getting something done but she was dead wrong. We only came to watch. But I think her asking, led another one of my friends to get her nose pierced. Which then encouraged me to follow suit. I wanted something different though. Something that I didn't see many people with at the time. And BOOM. My septum was pierced.

2. My sister brought me a sewing machine in 2016 that I still haven't opened

I feel bad that I haven't opened it yet but I got a little taste of fashion design at my previous job and it was very tedious. I can be very impatient sometimes so I gave up. But i'm not opposed to trying again. I just need to make time for it.

3. I attended John Robert Powers modeling school during my Junior year of high school

I was always told that I should model and was pretty good at runway even though I'm only 5' 5''. So I begged my parents to invest in modeling school for me. I was set on making it a career of mine. But after completing all of the classes, nothing happened. I can't remember if I stopped going or if my contract had ended. I personally made the decision that print modeling wasn't for me. I then went off to college, and joined a modeling troop.

4. I performed as a student in the play "Sarafina" with my youth choir

I would never consider myself an actress but performing in this musical was fun. Since we were a choir, all we really did was sing which was a lot easier than acting, in my opinion. It's easy for me to rehearse and remember a song compare to remembering lines. We were in costume and everything, practicing multiple times a week. We were also all in school so I honestly don't know how we weren't tired.

5. I toured the east coast with my youth choir in high school

After performing "Sarafina" for about 3 nights straight, we left to go on tour. It was the start of spring break and a good time. It was about 50 kids piled on a tour bus yelling and screaming as we traveled from city to city.

6. I've had purple, green and blue hair once before

When I first cut my hair in 2014, I was still natural. I wanted my hair just like Meghan Good's in "Jump the Broom" but instead I wanted it to be blonde. I hated that my hair was always frizzing due to humidity so I thought cutting it would help. No. It got even worse. And to top it off, I decided to cut it in the middle of summer. My hair literally lasted for a day before I decided to go back and get my sides shaved off. At this point, I just had blonde hair at the top of my head which meant that I could add any color to it without damaging it. Yes. I went crazy.

7. I begged my mom to let me get a perm in middle school and it broke my hair off

I had been natural my whole life. I started doing my own hair in like the 3rd or 4th grade and I had no idea what I was doing. All I knew how to do was brush my hair into a pony tail. Back then, my hair was very course and frizzy. I was always messing with it trying to get it perfect but that wasn't happening. I brushed and brushed and tugged and tugged at my hair. It was pretty long but because I wouldn't leave it alone, it began to fall out. So, I thought the next best solution was to get a perm. My mom finally gave in and made my hair appointment. I think by this time, I was in the 7th grade? I honestly can't remember. Just like I can't remember my hair breaking off from the perm. But my mom stopped letting me get them after a couple of months and I was livid. Since then, my curl pattern has softened up and my hair isn't as rough as it once was. Once I got older, I vowed to never get a perm again.

8. In 2015, I raised almost $500 through Gofundme to attend Teen Vogue Fashion University

I had never heard of Teen Vogue Fashion University until a member of Bombshells in Business, the organization I was a part of in college, attended and loved it. The following semester, I applied and GOT IN! Little did it know, I had to spend almost $400 on the ticket to attend, a flight and a hotel for 2 days. That was a lot of money to kick out all at once, especially for a broke college student. So, after complaining and praying, I gave in and created a Gofundme account. I hated the fact that I had to ask for help from people that I didn't even know. But before I knew it, people started donating. I raised almost $500 which was enough to cover my flight round trip and some of the hotel. Of course my family was able to help with the rest. I still can't believe I did that.

9. I used to hate reading but I'm obsessed with it now

I never enjoyed reading as a child. I felt like I was always forced to read books that I wasn't interested in. Until now. Now that I own a business and am dealing with everything that comes along with it, I enjoy reading books that I can learn from. My goal for this year is to read one book a month. I am currently finishing up January's book and I plan to be consistent with this.

10. I once found a pair of jeans in Nordstrom Rack for a penny!

I was on one of my infinite shopping sprees looking for a dress to wear that night for one of my friend birthdays. I was sifting through the racks looking for something cute but still in my price range. I'm probably one of the biggest bargain shoppers I know. I then came across these gold metallic jeans. I didn't think they would fit but I took them into the dressing room with me anyway. I tried them on and they fit like a glove. I couldn't put them back AND they were marked for $20; so I thought. I took them to the register to check out. The cashier rang them up after the dress and my total barely moved. "You found a pair of penny pants!" she yelled.

That was kind of a task for me because I don't really consider myself that interesting but I hope yall enjoyed my little honesty hour. It kind of reminded me how far of come over the years. A lot of the things that I used to think were "cool", are no longer cool to me. With age, my mindset has shifted and I'm excited to see what my 10 random facts might be 20 years from now.

I now challenge you to list out your 10 random facts and see what you come up with. GO!
